Opening Sequence began as a collaboration project with Floral Artist Yeji Kwon (Soupsoak) for her exhibition at Studio Zemi, in Seoul, South Korea. Based on the theme of meditation, we, sears, made samples from plants at the Soupsoak Studio. The samples were then taken and manipulated into cassette tape loops that lay the basic textures for the rhythmic and tonal movements. Then these textures were met with simple melodies and accidental layers of sampled sounds from the past.

“Opening Sequence”는 서울 문래동에 위치한 재미공작소에서 전시되었던 플라워 아티스트 권예지(숲속)의 설치 작업과의 콜라보레이션으로 처음 시작하였습니다. 명상의 주제로 하여, 저희 시어스는 숲속 스튜디오에 있는 식물의 소리들을 채취하였습니다. 이러한 샘플 사운드는 이리저리 변형되어 카세트 테이프 루프로 옮겨졌고, 시어스 “Opening Sequence”의 기본적인 리듬과 음색의 움직임의 기반을 만들었습니다. 그리고 난 후, 심플한 멜로디와 우연스럽게 발견된 과거의 사운드를 여러층의 샘플링을 거쳐 함께 조화를 이루어졌습니다.
